Man Arrested after Shots Fired Incident

A 59-year-old Pleasant Prairie man was taken into custody after a three hour stand-off with Pleasant Prairie Police at his home in the 8500 block of 48 Avenue. At approximately 7:15 p.m., neighbors in the area called police and reported that a neighbor in the block had fired a weapon outside of his home multiple times and retreated back into his house.

Pleasant Prairie Police responded and set up perimeter on the home to contain the individual and the incident. Kenosha County Tactical Response Team was notified and responded with tactical personnel and negotiators. As the Tactical Response Team approached the house, a shot could be heard from inside the home. The lone occupant of the dwelling then exited the home, verbal commands were given by officers and the male suspect failed to follow those commands and was struck with a less lethal impact round and then safely taken into custody.

The suspect was treated and released from Froedtert South Medical Center and was taken into police custody.  He is currently being held at the Kenosha County Jail awaiting his initial court appearance.

No officers or citizens were injured as a result of the suspect actions. The Pleasant Prairie Police, along with Kenosha Joint Services, alerted the public via reverse 911 alerts. Pleasant Prairie Police were also assisted by the Kenosha County Sheriff’s Office and the Wisconsin State Patrol.
