Masks Recommended

Pleasant Prairie Updates Mask Requirements for Village Facilities
Posted on 05/19/2021
In response to the new Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) guidelines, the Village of Pleasant Prairie is updating the mask policy for all Village facilities from masks required to mask recommended.

"The Village looks forward to continuing the transition back to regular community interactions," said Nathan Thiel, Village Administrator. "The updated Village mask policy acknowledges the efforts of the many community members who are already vaccinated. Until we see a higher percentage of the population vaccinated, the Village still recommends facility guests and employees interacting with those guests continue to wear face-coverings to help keep our community safe."

The CDC announced that fully vaccinated people could resume activities without wearing a mask. Because there is no appropriate way to verify vaccination status, the Village still recommends face coverings in its facilities. Village employees will still wear masks when interacting directly with the public, regardless of their vaccination status. The Village recommends that unvaccinated people take preventative measures and wear masks that cover the nose and mouth when entering, leaving, or moving throughout Village facilities to help protect themselves and others. The updated Village mask policy began today, Wednesday, May 19, 2021. The village policy is only for Village-owned facilities. Private establishments may govern their own policies.

As vaccination levels increase and pandemic restrictions ease, Village facilities will continue to transition to fewer restrictions. The Village encourages the public and all Village employees to get vaccinated and will soon host a mobile vaccination clinic with Kenosha County Health at RecPlex that will be available to employees and the community.

In addition, on June 7, the Village will move to hybrid public meetings featuring an in-person and virtual option. The Village Board and commission members will resume in-person meetings. Community members can choose to attend in-person or connect virtually. This method will combine the benefits of live and virtual interaction between presenters, in-person attendees, and virtual attendees. During in-person meetings, Village staff in attendance will wear masks. The Village recommends all guests attending face-to-face wear a face covering for the safety of the community.
