Police Seize Firearms in Separate Incidents

On July 7, 2022, at 12:52 a.m., a patrol officer performed a traffic stop in the 3800 block of Springbrook Road for a traffic violation. Upon contacting occupants of the vehicle, the officer smelled the odor of marijuana emitting from the vehicle. A search of the vehicle was conducted and a loaded 9mm Polymer 80 (Ghost Gun) was seized. A small amount of marijuana and drug paraphernalia was seized as well. Daavid E. Branch-Campbell (age 20) of Zion, IL was incarcerated on a charge of Carrying Concealed Weapon. 

On July 7, 2022, at 4:46 p.m., a patrol officer observed a traffic violation in the 10100 block of Sheridan Road.  The officer performed a traffic stop and make contact with the occupants. The officer smelled a strong odor of marijuana emitting from the vehicle while speaking with the driver. Upon request, the driver turned some marijuana over to the officer. A search of the driver resulted in the officer locating a KelTec 9mm handgun concealed within the suspects pants. A search of the vehicle resulted in officers seizing additional illegal drugs and drug paraphernalia. The driver, Alexander Gomez (age 18) of Zion, IL was incarcerated on the following charges: Possession with Intent to deliver LSD, Possession of THC, Carrying Concealed Weapon.  

“Both incidents are a result of our hard-working proactive law enforcement officers,” stated Pleasant Prairie Police Captain Barry Ollila. “The recovery of these firearms will assist in keeping the Village of Pleasant Prairie a safe community. Our law enforcement personnel will continue to carry out their duties with a Professional, Competent, and Compassionate emphasis.”
