Do you have historical photos of life in Pleasant Prairie, or do you know someone who may? We are interested in hearing from those of you who are willing to share your historical photos with the Village of Pleasant Prairie. Your photos and your memories will contribute to a historical review of life in the Village. They may also be used in the 2009 Village calendar and resource directory.
Pleasant Prairie has a rich and varied history. Its establishment as a municipal entity dates back to 1842, but different sites in the Village offer evidence of settlements dating back much farther. Photos of interest include older Pleasant Prairie homesteads, farms, businesses, schoolhouses, places of worship and historical events and locations.
Along with historic photographs, we are also seeking a short summary of the context in which the photos were taken. Periods of interest date from 1980 back through the mid 1800's when photography was first becoming available. Pre-photographic renderings are also of great interest.
If you would like to share your historical photos and information related to locations and events in Pleasant Prairie, photos can be dropped at Village Hall, 9915 39th Avenue, Monday through Friday from 8:00 a.m. through 5:00 p.m. We will make a digital copy of your photograph, document or drawing, and your original will be returned to you. In the event that you wish to leave your photo with us for a short time, please include your name, telephone number and email address.
