About PPPD

Squad CarThe Pleasant Prairie Police Department is a modern, professional law enforcement agency. Currently the department has 35 sworn law enforcement positions which include the Chief and Deputy Chief of Police. We are headquartered at the Prange Municipal Center, located at 8600 Green Bay Road in Pleasant Prairie, Wisconsin.

The department deploys three primary patrol shifts daily, each of which is commanded by a Lieutenant of Police with the exception of day shift, where the Deputy Chief of Police functions as the shift commander. Each shift also has a Sergeant of Police assigned to function as a relief shift supervisor. In addition to the three primary shifts, the department deploys a canine unit during hours of peak activity.

The Investigative Bureau is commanded by a Lieutenant of Detectives who supervises the Bureau's four detectives.

The department currently utilizes marked vehicles, including Chevy Tahoe 4 wheel drive SUV's, unmarked police vehicles and one Harley-Davidson police motorcycle.

In addition to the sworn staff, the department employs eleven non-sworn clerical and dispatch personnel. Dispatch personnel provide emergency and non-emergency communications services to the police, fire, and emergency medical services, as well as the Public Works Department.

The department also employees a Community Service Officer. The primary responsibility of the Community Service Officer assists Community Development by investigating and enforcing Village ordinance codes. In addition, the Community Service Officer works with our numerous retail establishments to provide a safe and secure environment for our citizens and visitors.

The department also believes that professional development should be required throughout the career of law enforcement professionals. Professional development programs should provide opportunities for our members to gain and improve the knowledge and skills important to their positions and job performance. In turn, members use their newly developed skills and knowledge, thereby increasing their contributions to the community they serve and protect.

On-going training and development also prepares members for future leadership positions within the agency.

In order to facilitate the delivery of quality law enforcement services, the department maintains personnel trained in the following specialty areas:

    • Accident Investigation and Reconstruction
