SITE AND OPERATIONAL PLANS APPROVED FOR ADDITION AT OCENCO INCORPORATED
On Monday, June 8, the Pleasant Prairie Plan Commission considered and approved Site and Operational Plans for Ocenco Incorporated to construct a 35,182 square foot addition, with related site improvements, at its existing facility located at 10225 82nd Avenue. Once the addition is complete, the facility’s new size will be 74,923 square feet.
Ocenco has designed, manufactured, warehoused, distributed and serviced respiratory protection equipment from its Pleasant Prairie facility since 1991. The company manufactures three types of products (under the brand names Ocenco, Interspiro, and Erie Medical) in Pleasant Prairie: emergency escape breathing devices (EEBD) for mining and underwater applications; self contained breathing apparatus (SCBA) for firefighting and rescue diving operations; and medical oxygen products used by medical professionals and emergency responders.
The addition is intended to accommodate the expansion of light assembly, inspection and warehousing functions for the Ocenco. The company cites continued sales growth in existing markets and planned participation in emerging markets as the reasons behind the expansion. Ocenco currently employs 110 people; following the expansion, that number is expected to grow to 143, with 57 full-time and 86 part-time employees.
Local fire departments that have purchased self contained breathing apparatus from Ocenco subsidiary Interspiro include the Kenosha Fire Department and Pleasant Prairie Fire & Rescue.
