During a February meeting of the Pleasant Prairie Recreation Commission, members of Kiwanis Breakfast Club presented the Therapeutic Recreation Department at RecPlex with a "big check." Kiwanis Breakfast Club donated $1,000 towards the purchase of a hydraulic lift to assist in providing services to Therapeutic Recreation clients. During the meeting, the Commission, in turn, presented the club with a resolution of appreciation.
The Therapeutic Recreation program at RecPlex serves children and adults with physical and cognitive disabilities. The program offers clients with special needs the opportunity to remain active members of the community. Participation in Therapeutic Recreation programs keeps people with special needs physically and socially engaged and helps to reduce depression, health care costs and a sedentary lifestyle. The Therapeutic Recreation program at RecPlex is supported by donations, user fees, grant monies, revenue generated from the lease of land for cellular towers and proceeds from the Pleasant Prairie Triathlon. The Village would like to sincerely thank Kiwanis Breakfast Club for their support of the program.
