During an October 10 Plan Commission meeting, Site and Operational Plans
were approved for the conversion of a vacant gas station into a used
car lot and minor repair shop. Safeway Auto will be located at 4503 75th
Street (State Highway 50) in Pleasant Prairie. The 1,263 square foot
building and related site will be upgraded for the new use.
The
business owner will update the interior of the existing building and
windows will be replaced. The exterior will be painted, and exterior
landscaping and a new business sign will be installed. A gasoline canopy
and pumps have been removed from the site. “We wish Safeway Auto the
best with their new business plan,” commented Jean Werbie-Harris,
Community Development Director for the Village. “We look forward to
seeing their improvements come to fruition and wish them success in
their new business.”
Work is expected to begin as soon as
possible and to be complete yet this autumn. Upon reopening, Safeway
Auto is expected to employ 2 full-time and 1 part-time employees.
Proposed hours of operation are Monday through Saturday from 8:00 a.m.
until 5:00 p.m. Access to Safeway Auto will be made from both 75th
Street and 45th Avenue.
