Chief of Fire & Rescue for the Village of Pleasant Prairie, Paul
Guilbert Jr, has announced that he will retire from his position with
the department in early December this year. Guilbert has served as Chief
of Pleasant Prairie’s department since October 13, 1986, spending 25
years as the community’s Fire Chief. Guilbert’s fire career has spanned
more than 41 years in total. Chief Guilbert’s official retirement date
will be December 2, 2011.
Guilbert served as Fire Chief through a
period of rapid growth, occurring after the 1989 incorporation of
Pleasant Prairie as a Village. Guilbert expressed his fondness for his
post, “The members of the Pleasant Prairie Fire & Rescue Department
have developed a reputation for their consistent ability to perform and
the professional manner in which they deliver service. For that, I will
be forever proud.”
The Pleasant Prairie Police and Fire
Commission will be conducting a national search for the next Fire Chief.
Guilbert will help the Village prepare for the transition. “Paul has
served the residents of Pleasant Prairie for the past 25 years with a
great deal of integrity,” commented Mike Pollocoff, Village
Administrator. “He has seen the department through tremendous growth in
the Village and has laid a strong foundation for the future growth and
improvement of the department.” Guilbert further stated, “I now look
forward to devoting my time to the family I have made, and the families
they are making.”
