Posted on 11/20/2017

On November 17, 2017 at 1:30 a.m. a Pleasant Prairie Police Officer observed a vehicle being operated at a high rate of speed going south on Highway 31. The officer attempted to stop the vehicle that cut across multiple lanes of traffic and did a U-turn at 95th Street. The vehicle then fled northbound, accelerating to over 80 miles per hour. The officer continued to pursue the vehicle as it turned east-bound onto Highway 50.

The officer terminated the pursuit when he was able to get the registration information from the fleeing vehicle and with assistance from Kenosha Police Department officers, they were able to determine the residence of the owner. The residence of the owner was then checked, and during that check a Kenosha police officer observed the vehicle in the 2000 block of 48th Street and attempted to stop the vehicle. The vehicle again accelerated in an attempt to flee, but was stopped by additional Kenosha Police and Pleasant Prairie Police squads.

The operator, a 14 year old Kenosha male, was taken into custody and is currently being held in the Racine County Detention Facility on charges related to fleeing and eluding an officer.

Anyone with any information about this incident is encouraged to contact the Pleasant Prairie Police Department at 262-694-7353 or Kenosha Area Crime Stoppers at 262-656-7333.
