Posted on 06/23/2017

On June 19, 2017 at 10:20 p.m., Pleasant Prairie Police responded to an apartment in the 8600 block of 82nd Street for a report of a possible shooting. A witness reported hearing an argument coming from an apartment before hearing what sounded like gunshots.

Upon arrival, officers forced entry into the apartment and located a 49-year-old male and a 39-year-old female. Both were deceased and suffered from apparent gunshot wounds. Names of the deceased were initially withheld pending notification of family members.

The deceased individuals have been identified as 49-year-old James H. Justice and 39-year-old Martha A. Justice, husband and wife, both of Pleasant Prairie. The couple was found in the bedroom of the family's apartment. Both had sustained fatal gunshot wounds. The investigation has led detectives to believe that this incident was a murder-suicide and that the male party fatally wounded his wife before turning the weapon on himself and taking his own life.
