The Kenosha County Medical Examiner has identified the victim of the lake incident that occurred on June 26 at Prairie Springs Park during the Race Day Events Pleasant Prairie Triathlon as William R. Harms, 51, of Oswego, IL.
 
On Sunday, June 26, 2022, at approximately 7:50 a.m., lifeguards were alerted by another racer that found an unresponsive triathlete in the water and signaled nearby lifeguards for help. Lifeguard staff quickly jumped into the water to assist the racer and called Pleasant Prairie Fire & Rescue for assistance. Fire & Rescue staff were already on-site with a rescue boat that came to the aid of the unresponsive triathlete.
 
Life-saving efforts of CPR and rescue breathing were initiated in the rescue boat by the lifeguard and EMS staff while making their way to shore. The boat crew was met by additional EMS staff to initiate further care, including applying a cardiac monitor/defibrillator and a LUCAS mechanical CPR device. The victim was transferred to a waiting ambulance, where advanced life-saving efforts continued, including inserting a breathing tube.
 
The victim was transported to Froedtert South – Pleasant Prairie Hospital where life-saving efforts continued; however, were subsequently unsuccessful.
