The Village of Pleasant Prairie Public Works Department took fourth place in the APWA (American Public Works Association) Wisconsin Chapter’s 22nd Annual Snowplow Roadeo. Rory Franke and Dennis Kammerzelt competed on behalf of the Village of Pleasant Prairie against 54 other participating teams in a full day of written tests, pre-trip inspections and snowplow driving. This year’s course included a round-a-bout element and other challenging scenarios for the teams to navigate.
Public Works Director John Steinbrink Jr. explained, “Operating a snowplow is a difficult and often times dangerous job during Wisconsin winters. Visibility is often very limited, and plows are very large pieces of machinery. This is why Village staff trains during the year and competes in these events.” The Village operates 16 plows, three front end loaders and six pick-up trucks to clear snow from 121 centerline miles of road throughout Pleasant Prairie. The Village would like to congratulate Rory Franke and Dennis Kammerzelt for a job well done.
