The Village of Pleasant Prairie is honored to be home to two winners of the Daily Reporter's Top Projects of 2010 Award. The Uline Corporate Headquarters and the RecPlex Aqua Area were both named Top Projects of 2010 by a panel of judges during late May. The awards program, during its twelfth year (2010), honored a total of 30 outstanding construction projects completed in the State of Wisconsin. Top Projects recognizes the best construction projects in the State based on the difference the project has made in the community, whether or not the project had to overcome challenging circumstances, whether a unique industry technique was used, and additional criteria.
"We are incredibly pleased to have two award winning projects here in Pleasant Prairie," commented John Steinbrink Sr., Village President. "The quality of Uline's Corporate Headquarters and the jobs it provides truly do enhance southeast Wisconsin and highlight its overall attractiveness." Steinbrink added, "The Aqua Arena was an outstanding test of planning, engineering, and construction skills that has yielded a highly energy efficient, state-of-the-art facility that will continue to be both a community resource and a huge tourism draw for the State."
The Village would like to congratulate the project teams that have earned the honors. The project team for the Uline Corporate Headquarters included: Eppstein Uhen Architects; CG Schmidt Inc; JSD Professional Services Inc; Ring & DuChateau Inc; Pierce Engineers Inc; Arnold & O'Sheridan Inc; and Uline Inc. The project was seen as bringing "new life" to southeast Wisconsin.
The project team for the RecPlex Aqua Arena included: Riley Construction; Partners in Design Architects; Nielsen, Madsen & Barber SC; Arnold & O'Sheridan Inc; Counsilman - Hunsaker; Neuman Pools; and the Village of Pleasant Prairie. The project was recognized because of the extremely challenging soil and groundwater conditions the project team had to overcome in order to build a certified, Olympic-sized competition pool only 15-feet from an adjacent lake. The project was also designed to be energy efficient and received a grand from Focus on Energy.
