Members of Pleasant Prairie Fire & Rescue would like to publicly
thank all those who helped “Fill-the-Boot” during the 2011 Muscular
Dystrophy Association fundraiser during the first weekend in September.
Pleasant Prairie Fire & Rescue collected a total of $17,060. During
2010, the department collected $20,946. During 2009 and 2008, the
department collected $17,729 and $10,018 respectively.
“This
year, as in years past, we’ve been overwhelmed by the generosity of the
motorists we’ve met,” commented Pleasant Prairie Fire & Rescue Chief
Paul Guilbert Jr. “We were overwhelmed by the public’s support. We
cannot thank them enough for their generosity. I am very proud of the
emergency work our personnel perform on a daily basis; I am especially
proud of the effort put forth during the MDA fundraiser.”
Fill-the-Boot
is an annual tradition for firefighters across the country. The
International Association of Firefighters has been a national sponsor of
the MDA since 1954. This is the department’s fourth year participating
in the campaign. Pleasant Prairie has plans to Fill-the-Boot again
during next year’s campaign.
