
All are invited to participate in a 9-week community weight loss challenge, Thin It to Win It. The challenge will run from Monday, November 2 until Sunday, January 3. Organizers are encouraging people to register as a team of 4; registration opened on October 19. Those interested can also register as an individual.
Registration will run through Friday, October 30. Teams and individuals can register in person at RecPlex, or online at RecPlexOnline.com. The fee per participant is $70 and includes:
- an individual membership at RecPlex during the challenge;
- healthy eating recipes;
- four trainer-led nutrition/fitness roundtables; and
- weekly workout suggestions.
For those who already have a RecPlex membership, the fee is $15. Personal training specials will also be available for participants. Initial weigh-ins will take place on Monday, November 2, while final weigh-ins must take place by January 3, 2016.
"Families, friends, co-workers, anyone who wants a little camaraderie, motivational competition, and a leg up is invited to join us in the pursuit of a healthier lifestyle," encouraged Aaron Pankau, Fitness Director at RecPlex. "Maybe the challenge helps you meet a wellness goal you've been working on, or maybe it gives you the momentum you need to turn your health in a better direction, either way, Thin It to Win It was structured to help you succeed."
The winner will be determined based on the greatest percentage of weight lost as opposed to a total number of pounds. The overall individual winner will receive a one-year individual membership to RecPlex, three one-hour personal training sessions, and two one-hour massage sessions. The overall group winners will each receive a three-month individual membership to RecPlex, three one-hour small group personal training sessions, and one thirty-minute massage session.
