39th AVENUE REOPENS TO TRAFFIC FRIDAY, OCTOBER 23 AT 3:00 P.M.
Drivers Still Asked to Use Care in Area as Work on the Project Continues
A stretch of 39th Avenue between 93rd Street and State Highway 165 will reopen today, Friday, October 23 at 3:00 p.m. in Pleasant Prairie. Project staff will be removing barricades at 3:00 this afternoon.
Because crews are still completing construction and landscaping activities within the project area, drivers using 39th Avenue are asked to please be aware of work crews and take great care when driving through this area.
The Village would like to thank residents and travelers for their patience as this section of road was reconstructed. “We’re aware that many, many people have been affected by this road reconstruction project and that they were anxious to have this main thoroughfare reopen,” explained John Steinbrink Jr., Director of Public Works. “We would like to thank everyone for their patience as the road was rebuilt.”
Contractors, multiple utility companies, WisDot and the Village have worked to accommodate the reconstruction of this section of road from the base up.
The upper and base layers of the road were removed; additional water and sewer main was installed; utilities, including fiber optic cable, telephone, electric, and gas, were relocated; the intersection at 39th Avenue and Springbrook Road was reengineered; a new, wider road base was installed; the top layers of the road were repaved and striped; sidewalks were constructed; and signage, lighting and landscaping has been installed.
