Prairie Springs Park and Lake Andrea will host the Pleasant Prairie Triathlon on Sunday, June 21 and will be the host site for the Iron Girl Pleasant Prairie Women’s Triathlon Event on Sunday, August 9. The Village has also planned two youth triathlons in 2015. The Pleasant Prairie Junior Triathlons will take place on Saturdays, June 20 and August 8.
Each year, sporting events in Pleasant Prairie draw thousands of visitors to the community. “Pleasant Prairie has been incredibly fortunate to be able to host these amazing events during the summer months,” explained Carol Willke, Director of Recreation for the Village. “Not only do theses events provide a challenging and rewarding experience for the athletes, but they inspire young spectators and provide an economic boost for our local retail businesses.”
In past years, the estimated economic impact of multisport events over the summer months for area businesses has exceeded $1 million. Race organizers also reach out to the broader community year after year through charitable giving components.
Businesses and residents near Prairie Springs Park can expect limited road closures on Sunday, June 21 and Sunday, August 9, similar to those that have taken place in the past for these events. More information will be made available as race courses are finalized. All are invited to join us for these events as athletes, spectators and volunteers.
