INVEST OF PLEASANT PRAIRIE TO HOST CLOTHING DRIVE IN PARTNERSHIP WITH BETTER EARTH ON SATURDAY, ARPIL 4
InVEST of Pleasant Prairie, in partnership with Better Earth Textile Recycling, Inc. will host a Clothing Drive on Saturday, April 4 from 9:00 a.m. until 1:00 p.m. at the Roger Prange Center at 8600 Green Bay Road.
To participate, residents are asked to place all types of used clothing, shoes, belts, purses, towels, blankets, etc. into plastic bags and to then seal or tie the bag. Bags of clothing and household textiles can be brought to the Better Earth truck that will be parked at the Roger Prange Center between 9:00 a.m. and 1:00 p.m. on April 4. Representatives from Better Earth will collect bags as residents pull up to the truck.
Closed plastic bags will help keep items dry and protected from moisture, mold and mildew so that they can be shared with people in need worldwide. More information describing how Better Earth will reuse your old clothing and household textiles is attached as a PDF below.
The EPA estimates that each year over 21 billion pounds of clothing and household textiles are placed in U.S. landfills, with the average person generating approximately 70 pounds per year. By keeping these items out of your garbage, you can help provide employment and affordable clothing to people in the U.S. as well as in developing countries throughout the world. The April 4 clothing drive will kick off an ongoing clothing collection (drop box) by InVEST and Better Earth at the Roger Prange Center.
