SITE AND OPERATIONAL PLANS APPROVED FOR MIDWEST REFRIGERATED SERVICES
On Monday, May 11, the Pleasant Prairie Plan Commission considered and approved Site and Operational Plans for Midwest Refrigerated Services to occupy a 411,000 square foot building currently under construction at 11681 88th Avenue in Pleasant Prairie. The building will be used to warehouse bottled beverages, canned cranberry sauce and jelly manufactured by a local food processing company in Kenosha, with additional space available for other food processing customers.
The company currently operates two distribution centers in Pleasant Prairie through a subsidiary, Prairieview Distribution Services, LLC, and is proposing to consolidate those two locations into the new building along with inventories currently held at another location in northern Illinois.
The facility is expected to operate 24 hours per day, seven days per week over three shifts. The company currently employs 60 full-time positions, with additional temporary and seasonal staff as required. Five additional positions could be created over the next 12 months if planned growth allows. Between 75 and 150 truck trips are expected to and from the facility daily. Between 60 and 85 automobile trips are expected to and from the site daily. The company plans to occupy the building this September.
