On September 8, 2025, the Village Board voted to award the contract for the 122nd Street Water Main project to Globe Contractors, Inc. of Pewaukee, WI, the lowest responsible bidder.

The work includes installing approximately 7,700 feet of new 16-inch water main from 1,600 feet east of 120th Avenue to 88th Avenue, primarily by directional drilling. Water services will be installed along the corridor within the right-of-way, including fire hydrants that will improve fire protection for nearby residences. Residents along the route will have the option to connect to municipal water, but the connection is not required. The new water main will improve east-to-west water conveyance, strengthen system redundancy, reduce friction-related pressure loss, and enhance service reliability.

The project will be funded through Tax Incremental District (TID) No. 5. Globe Contractors, Inc. submitted a total base bid of $3,433,740, which is within the approved project budget of $4,310,000. Construction is expected to begin in November 2025, pending necessary railroad crossing permits, and conclude by spring 2026.

This project will have a deferred special assessment, which is a way to fund public improvements that directly benefit specific properties in the project area. Property owners will not be required to make any payment at this time. Payment will only be necessary if a property connects to the municipal water system, is subdivided, receives a building permit for a new home, or is developed for a new use that requires Village approval. Until one of these events occurs, property owners may continue using well water without paying the assessment.
