2025 Safety Day in the Prairie

Fire & Rescue to Host Annual Safety Day in the Prairie
Posted on 08/29/2025
The Pleasant Prairie Fire & Rescue Department will host the annual Safety Day in the Prairie on Saturday, September 13, from 10:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. The free event will take place at a new location this year, Fire Station #3 in Prairie Springs Park, at 10165 Terwall Terrace.

Safety Day in the Prairie offers hands-on and educational activities for attendees of all ages. Guests can view a 100-foot aerial platform fire truck, observe the Flight for Life helicopter (dependent on service availability), and explore other emergency vehicles. Children can participate in activities such as bouncing in a bounce house and practicing with a fire hose to put out a pretend fire. The event will also feature fire station tours, demonstrations of technical rescue equipment, and a Pleasant Prairie Police K-9 demonstration.

Representatives from the Village of Pleasant Prairie public safety departments, including Fire & Rescue, Police, Emergency Dispatch, and Public Works, will be present to interact with attendees and explain their roles in the community. Other organizations, such as Aurora Health Care, Froedtert South, and Kenosha County Public Health, will participate to share information about their safety initiatives.

“This event provides an opportunity for residents to learn about safety services provided in the community and to meet local firefighters, police officers, and other safety personnel,” said Craig Roepke, Chief of Fire & Rescue. “It also highlights the training that public safety personnel complete to remain well-prepared for a wide range of emergencies.”

Sponsored by the Pleasant Prairie Fire & Rescue, Safety Day in the Prairie is supported through donations from individuals, groups, and local corporations. Held in advance of Fire Prevention Month in October, the event raises awareness about fire safety, encourages community members to develop fire safety plans, and promotes life-saving practices. Food and refreshments for the event are provided with support from Meijer, Niagara Bottling, and Culver’s.
