The Pleasant Prairie Recreation Department is offering a Living Well Scholarship to individuals who are currently undergoing or have completed cancer treatment within the past year. The program supports physical and mental well-being through regular exercise. Scholarship recipients will receive eight one-hour personal training sessions at Pleasant Prairie RecPlex, tailored to their individual needs, featuring a balanced mix of cardiovascular, strength, and flexibility exercises.
“The Living Well scholarship program is in recognition of National Cancer Survivor Month," explained Sandy Wiedmeyer, RecPlex Operations Superintendent. "This initiative has positively impacted many cancer survivors in recent years, and we are pleased to bring it back to help raise awareness and provide support.”
Exercise has been scientifically proven to enhance energy levels, boost strength, and improve cardiovascular endurance, all of which contribute to overall good health. Research has also indicated that regular exercise can reduce the risk of some types of cancer recurrence. Regardless of prior activity levels, this scholarship offers an opportunity to embark on a path to better health through structured fitness activities.
