The Village of Pleasant Prairie has launched a new online permitting portal that allows contractors and homeowners to apply for building, zoning, and engineering permits, as well as apply for or renew business licenses.

The portal introduces a convenient way to submit applications for building, electrical, plumbing, HVAC, fire protection, and other permits. Users can create an account to track permits from submission through final inspection. Once approved, permits can be paid for online and printed from any location. The portal also provides the ability to request inspections and view inspection results.

Obtaining the proper permits is required for all projects, including routine residential work such as fencing, roofing, or siding. The permitting process ensures compliance with local and state safety codes. Inspections are required during construction, and a Certificate of Occupancy or Certificate of Compliance must be issued for new buildings, additions, alterations, tenant changes, and certain accessory structures.

“This new permitting system reflects the Village’s commitment to embracing technology,” said Sandro Perez, Building Inspections Director. “It offers a more accessible experience and modern efficiencies to streamline the permitting process.”
