Village staff presented the proposed 2026 General Government Budget to the Village Board during an October 30, 2025, meeting. The presentation outlined revenues and expenses for operating, capital, and debt service, along with the projected impact on the Village tax levy.
The 2026 budget proposes increasing the tax levy from $21,299,133 in 2025 to $22,135,157, an increase of $836,024 or 3.93 percent. This adjustment will impact property tax bills.
The Village portion of the property tax on a median-valued home, now $373,300, same as 2025, will increase by approximately $77. These funds will support essential services, including fire & rescue, police, community development, road improvements, and snow plowing.
The proposed 2026 operating budget accounts for inflationary increases across most departments. Recurring decision packages
cover the costs of ongoing increased park maintenance, subscriptions for police and fire policy solutions and flock license
plate readers, reclassification of personnel to the Village Clerk’s office and other operating expenses for $153,080. The budget also allocates $356,056 for one-time expenses, including park and Village building maintenance, and staffing up the Village Clerk’s office for four elections.
Proposed capital investments include:
• $4 million for road improvements
• $540,000 to replace fuel storage tanks
• $464,305 for squad car replacements
• $242,00 for park improvements
Additional projects are planned to be funded with impact fees:
• $280,000 for Pickle Ball Courts in Ingram Park
• $100,000 for a Storage Building Expansion Design at Roger Prange Municipal Center
A public hearing to adopt the 2026 budget and property tax levy, covering all operating, capital, and debt service expenses, is scheduled for
Monday, November 24, at 6:00 p.m. in the Village Hall Auditorium at 9915 39th Avenue.
