Village Infrastructure Projects
2026 Paving Program
Contractor:
Payne and Dolan
Information:
The Village’s paving program focuses on the resurfacing of existing roadways to improve infrastructure and enhance ride quality for residents. This initiative involves rebuilding and resurfacing streets to provide smoother, safer, and more durable roads, supporting the village’s growth and ensuring long-term transportation reliability.
The project is separated into distinct work area as shown in the following link and described below:
Project area map:
Section 1
(Commercial area, Southwest corner of STH 50 & STH 31)
Roadways within this section will be pulverized and resurfaced, along with utility structure adjustments and repairs. Additional work includes curb and gutter repairs. The existing “tee” intersection at the west end of 76th Street will be reconfigured into a new “L”-shaped curb radius configuration to improve roadway alignment and operations.
Section 2
(Springbrook Meadows Subdivision)
Roadways within this subdivision will undergo a mill and overlay resurfacing process. Additional work includes selective curb and gutter repairs, along with utility structure adjustments and repairs as needed throughout the project area.
Section 3
(121st Street)
This section has been removed from the 2026 Paving Program by direction of the Village Board.
Section 4
(St. Johns Lift Station)
This work area is located on the property of St. John’s Monastery, and impacts will be limited to monastery operations only. Improvements include removal and replacement of the existing pavement, replacement of failed stone base areas, and utility structure adjustments as needed.
Section 5
(Village Green Park Path)
This project consists of construction of a new multi-use asphalt path connecting Village Green Park to the existing sidewalk network within The Cottages development/subdivision. Major work items include grading, stone base installation, asphalt paving, and construction of ADA-compliant sidewalk ramps and connections.
Section 6
(8th Avenue Intersection Modifications)
Intersections at 101st Street and 102nd Street will be reconfigured into traditional four-legged intersections, reducing maintenance and replacement costs.
Section 7
(116th Street)
Pulverizing and resurfacing from 39th Avenue to 35th Avenue w/ asphalt patching from 35th Avenue to STH 32.
Section 8
(Lakeshore Drive)
Speed Humps: Two areas of speed humps will be installed to address excessive speeding. These concrete speed humps are designed to be 4-inces in height, 22-feet long, the full width of the roadway and spaced at 400 to 500-feet near lot lines where driveways will not be impeded. This is a pilot project to evaluate the effectiveness, design, and maintenance requirements for future considerations in similar areas with high rates of excessive speeding and traffic volumes.
Throughout all work areas, the contractor will be performing some ditching work, culvert replacements and other storm water improvements in the project areas which have been identified in the development of the plans. These measures are crucial for mitigating roadway deterioration caused by water infiltration and freeze-thaw cycles. Improved drainage will help maintain the structural integrity of roadways by redirecting water flow away from the pavement and reducing the risk of localized flooding/ponding.
Generally, all work is located within the public roadway right of way. If it is necessary to work on private property, the village will first obtain approval from the property owner.
Additional information on the pulverize and resurfacing process and some common questions and concerns can be found
here.

122nd Street Water Main Extension
Contractor:
Globe Contractors, Inc.
Information:
The Village is investing in important improvements to expand and strengthen the public water system along 122nd Street. This project includes installing new water main infrastructure to improve system reliability, increase capacity, enhance fire protection, and provide municipal water service to areas that previously did not have access. Most of the water main will be installed by directional drilling within the south ditch of 122nd Street, with the exception of two crossings: the Des Plaines River, where the alignment will shift south beyond the bridge, and the Canadian Pacific Railroad, which will be installed using the jack and bore method. To complete this work safely, 122nd Street will be closed to thru traffic during construction. However, local access for residents and emergency vehicles will be maintained, and construction activities will be coordinated to minimize disruptions as much as possible.

Schedule:
The Contractor currently anticipates completing the project by May 22nd, 2026.
