During the recent blizzard, Pleasant Prairie received more than 23 inches of snow. The average annual snowfall is typically between 45 and 50 inches. During this single blizzard event, Pleasant Prairie received almost half of the average snowfall for the year within 24 hours.

WORKING THROUGH THE WEEKEND TO WIDEN ROADS
Pleasant Prairie Public Works crews are continuing work to clear snow from the roadways. Crews will be working throughout the weekend to clean up and widen roadways as best they can. Crews have been out in force since the snow began to fall. Their main focus during the storm was to clear main roadways and paths for emergency responders. Plow crews provided escorts on every fire and police call that was received during the storm due to the treacherous conditions.

CUL DE SACS
The Village is aware that cul de sacs in residential areas still need attention. It has been particularly difficult for plows to clear cul de sacs. With the speed at which a plow must navigate a cul de sac, it has been difficult for plows to gain enough force necessary to move the volume of the snow we received. Staff will be using front-end loaders throughout the weekend to assist in snow removal around cul de sacs.

PLEASE ASSIST YOUR NEIGHBORS
As crews work through the weekend to widen and clean the roadways, it is unavoidable that snow will be deposited at the base of residential driveways. The Village understands the amount of effort it takes for residents to clear their driveways, but this circumstance is unfortunately unavoidable. We ask that all residents consider helping their neighbors that may need assistance with snow removal, especially those who may be elderly, disabled or in poor health.

GARBAGE COLLECTION
Remaining weekly pickups have been delayed by one day. In areas where garbage collection is taking place, crews will wait for collection to be completed before entering the area with plows and equipment to complete clean up. Those who are scheduled for garbage collection are asked to PLEASE PLACE YOUR GARBAGE CARTS AT THE EDGE OF YOUR DRIVEWAY - BUT NOT IN THE STREET.

FIRE HYDRANTS
Please remember to clear a path completely around fire hydrants that may be on or near your property. Doing so will save valuable time in the event of a fire emergency and will help to protect life and property.

MAILBOXES AND SIGNPOSTS
If your mailbox or signposts in your neighborhood have been damaged during storm cleanup efforts, you are asked to contact 925-6700 Monday through Friday between 8:00 a.m. and 5:00 p.m. Staff will be on hand to take your information. Beginning the week of February 7, crews will be visiting those who have called to provide a temporary repair for the winter. Once the ground thaws, crews will be able to break the ground to replace mailbox and sign posts where necessary.
