Sanitary Sewer Lining

2021 Sanitary Sewer Lining Contract Awarded to Visu-Sewer

Today, the Pleasant Prairie Village Board considered four bids for the 2021 Sanitary Sewer Lining Project and awarded the contract to Visu-Sewer, Inc. for $2,316,931. The decision came following a presentation from Village staff, and their recommendation to award the project to Visu-Sewer, the lowest responsible bidder.

Visu-Sewer has extensive experience in sewer rehabilitation projects and has completed similar projects for the Village in the past. As part of the contract, Visu-Sewer will complete 61,500 linear feet of sewer cleaning, televising, and sewer lining. They will also do 850 linear feet of lateral grouting, perform chemical grouting on eight sanitary sewer maintenance holes, and make spot repairs in six sections. The Sewer Utility will fund the project.

"Relining the Village's sanitary sewer lines is an ongoing project that is essential to maintaining the Village's infrastructure," said John Steinbrink Jr., Director of Public Works. "The liners can last over 50 years and are a great alternative to conventional rip out and replace methods. The process is an economical way to extend the in-ground pipes' life, by reinforcing the interior walls, sealing cracks, and preventing leakage."

Relining is a popular and cost-effective sanitary sewer main rehabilitation method because it requires one access point. The process helps protect against corrosion, and the resin-coated lining has no gaps or joints. The installation involves a new liner pulled into the existing sewer main or lateral and cured in place.
