Posted on 12/09/2020
On December 9, 2020, at 8:50 a.m., a caller reported his vehicle was struck by a second vehicle in the 9100 block of 76th Street and stated the offending vehicle fled the scene of the accident. The caller described the vehicle to the Pleasant Prairie Public Safety Communications dispatcher. Pleasant Prairie squads located the hit-and-run offender in the 9100 block of 88th Avenue, and an officer attempted to stop the vehicle. The driver refused to stop and fled eastbound on 95th Street at low speeds and eventually went northbound on Old Green Bay Road.

Officers attempted to utilize a tire deflation device to stop the vehicle; however, the driver evaded the device along with a second set of strips and crossed the median to the northbound lanes of Highway 31. The vehicle then struck the median curb that separates the northbound and southbound lanes of Highway 31, and the driver continued to flee northbound in the southbound lanes of Highway 31. A Pleasant Prairie squad caused the fleeing vehicle to strike the curb and come to a stop in the 8900 block of Highway 31.

The driver, a 26-year-old Kenosha man, was taken into custody by officers. The man is being held at the Kenosha County Jail on several charges that include Causing Injury by Intoxicated Use of a Vehicle, Hit and Run Causing Injury, and 1st Degree Recklessly Endangering Safety. There are also Felony Fleeing and Eluding charges that are being referred to the Kenosha County District Attorney’s Office.
